The Stark Museum of Art and Lamar State College-Orange will offer Painting in the Landscape Workshop, a continuing education class to be offered this spring, beginning February 19. The workshop fee is $20; advance registration is required through Lamar State College-Orange.

Artists with some experience working in oils or acrylics are invited to participate in the workshop, which will be held on Saturday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. beginning February 19 and continuing March 5, 12, and 19. The workshop will conclude at Art in the Park on March 26, where participants will display their work.

The landscape painting workshop will include a tour of the Stark Museum of Art, and then meet at different painting locations each week. Participants will have the opportunity to paint at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, as well as other local sites.

The Painting in the Landscape Workshop will be led by Amelia Wiggins, Educator for Public Programs, at the Stark Museum of Art. Wiggins holds a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and exhibits her paintings locally. Wiggins encourages interested locals to sign up for the painting workshop, saying, “I hope that area painters will take inspiration from the Stark Museum of Art collection and gather to make art together in the fresh air.”
