Thursday evening at about 9:23, the City of Orange Fire Dept. responded to a house fire at 2906 N. 17th St. According to a report from Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Ziller, “the arriving crews reported heavy flames showing.”

Three fire engines and a supervisor’s vehicle responded to the fire.

Assisting in the call were firefighters from West Orange, Pinehurts and some members of the Little Cypress Fire and Rescue department.

The fire was under control at approximately 11:00 P.M., but crews remained on the scene extinguishing hot spots until after 1:00 A.M.

The American Red Cross set up a rehabilitation unit to feed the cold and wet firefighters on the scene.
