Two Bridge City Cardinal powerlifters are heading to the regionals. Seniors Shane Stankus and Thomas Luce each took first place in the Lumberton Powerlifting Meet held on Saturday.

With their wins the Bridge City boys took first place at the meet competing against Lumberton, Nederland, Vidor, West Brook and Port Neches-Groves.

Stankus, competing in the 220 pound class, heaved a total of 1585 pounds for the first place win. He benched 360 pounds, squatted 625 pounds and 600 pounds in the dead lift.

Luce won first place in the super heavy weight class with a total of 1695 pounds. He benched 400 pounds, squatted 710 pounds and heaved 585 in the dead lift. Luce was also named the Outstanding Lifter for the event.

Also placing first for Bridge City was Dylan Sams In the 198 pound class with a total of 1225 pounds.

In the 114 pound class Wren Miller took second place with a total of 635 pounds and Windsor Nguyen placed third with a total of 590 pounds. Tanner Royal took third place in the 123 pound class with lifts totaling 620 pounds. Sean Longmire took second place in the 148 pound class with a total of 865 pounds. Hunter Sams placed fourth with a total of 1175.

Bailey Moore took fourth place for the Bridge City varsity girls in the 97 pound class with a total of 400 pounds. Kristina Threatt took fifth place with a total of 375 pounds. In the 105 pound class Nicole Threatt finished in second place qith a total of 565 pounds. In the 114 pound class Kayden Church also finished second with a total of 625 pounds. Whitney Leblanc took third place with lifts totalling 570 pounds.

Kaitlyn Louvier won first place in the 132 pound class with a total of 645 pounds. Simon Dies finished with a second place medal with a total of 590 pounds.
