Darlene K. Pokorney, 58, of Lake Charles, formerly of Deweyville, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, from noon until 2:00 PM at Dorman Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service at 2 pm at the funeral home. The Rev. John Fortenberry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Trout Creek Cemetery.

She was a native of Winfield, Kansas; born on May 6, 1952 to Roy William and Beulah (Salder) Harper. She had lived the last 11 years in Lake Charles. She was formerly a resident of Deweyville for 30 years, where she and her husband owned Triangle Meat Market. She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and going fishing. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beulah Harper; brothers, Joseph Harper, Ralph Harper.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Pokorney of Lake Charles; daughters, Melissa Kay Sheppard and husband Steven of Deweyville, Julie Lummus and husband Tony of Deweyville; son, Bill Pokorney and wife Andrea of Beaumont; grandchildren, Crystal McClelland, Tori Brooke Lummus, Mackenzie Sheppard, Courtney Sheppard, David Michael Sheppard; sister, Beulah Armstrong of Winfield, KS; brother, Jerry Harper and wife Dee Dee of Deer Creek, KS.

She is also survived by her in laws, Marcia and Jerrel Huff of Deweyville, Jennie McCabe of Deweyville, Michael and Charlotte Pokorney of Wichita, KS.; nieces, Bonnie McCabe, Lisa Moore, Lorrie Unruh, Christal Crisco.
