Robert Eugene Costen, 83, of Bridge City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 6, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas after a brief illness.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Cremation is under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory in Bridge City.

Born in Red Level, Alabama on May 26, 1927, Robert was the son of Aubrey and Evie (Lee) Costen. He and his wife, Peggy, moved to Texas in 1953. He was a valued retiree of 33 years with Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur. Through Gulf Oil Refinery, he also worked in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada helping to get the Syncrude Canada Ltd. plant started.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Lee Costen; and his beloved wife of 64 years, Peggy Costen.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Stacey Costen Crumpler and her husband, Mike, Tina Costen Stanton and her husband, Mike all of Bridge City; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
