Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center has announced additional programs for the Spring Saturday Adventure Series. Many of these programs are hands-on activities and explore the natural world through informative natural history lessons from Shangri La educators.

The “Birds of a Feather” class will be held on April 2. A game-filled adventure will teach participants about birds through fun and play.

Birds will also be the topic of conversation during the “Count Your Birds” event on April 9. Count the birds nesting in the cypress trees around Ruby Lake at Shangri La’s heronry and discover how to identify several species of birds after a short hike to the state-of-the-art bird blind.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about bees. Learn about these important insects, play games, study a beehive and sample honey during “The Buzz on Bees” that will take place on April 30.

“Tea Time” will be featured May 7, so put on your fanciest hat and gloves. Participants will learn about herbal teas made from backyard plants and sample different teas as well as homemade pastries. .

May 14 will round out the Saturday Adventure Series with a lesson on Nature Photography. This adult program will assist budding digital photographers in learning about aperture, shutter speed and the best time and lighting for landscape photography.
