Daisy Barre Simmons, 92 of San Antonio, passed away Thursday evening, March 17, of complications from a stroke. Priviate services will be held at Meadowlawn Cemetery.

She was born the fourth child of Valentin and Dores Barre on March 1, 1919, in Orange. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister, a grandson as well as her husband, John W. Simmons, retired executive vice president and general manager of the Sabine River Authority in Orange.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth W. McCollister and wife Carolyn of San Antonio and Barre W. Simmons and wife Nancy of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family wants to thank the residents of Villa de San Antonio and Franklin Park in San Antonio and Manor Park in Midland for being such very good friends to Daisy. She so enjoyed her stays at those retirement communities.

We would also like to thank Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, Remington Medical Resort and Odyssey Hospice for the outstanding care they provided Daisy during the past three months.
