Bridge City Lady Cardinal volleyball standout, senior Sarah McPherson, is going to be moving on to the Lamar University Lady Cardinals this August. McPherson, who lettered in three sports each year of her high school

career, has collected numerous honors and is currently a key member of the Bridge City Lady Cardinal softball team– but volleyball, she says, is her favorite sport of all.

A gathering of the media, family, friends and fans celebrated McPherson’s decision with a special recognition ceremony at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School were Sunday afternoon select volleyball practice is held.

Her high school volleyball coach ‘Becca Mathews Peveto said, “this is quite an honor for a local kid to get an opportunity to play Division I volleyball at a local university. I am very proud of Sara and what she has accomplished.”

Among those posing for pictures with McPherson during the gathering were her mother and father, Wayne and Brenda McPherson.

“I am happy that Sarah will be close to home,” said Brenda McPherson. “We would travel to watch her play anywhere she had decided to go but Lamar is right here.”

The Bridge City senior’s volleyball stats are outstanding. In her senior year alone she had 298 kills, 65 aces, 296 digs, 336 assists and her serve-receive was 327 out of 363.

McPherson said she looks forward to the opportunity to join Coach Gilbert’s LU Lady Cards.
