Friends of the Orange Public Library to meet
On Tuesday, March 29, the Friends of the Orange Public Library will host their annual business meeting. The public is invited to this meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Ira Williamson Meeting room in the library, located at 220 North 5th St. in Orange.
The annual book sale is set for Tuesday, April 26. Donations are currently being accepted. More details will be presented at the Friends meeting. Anyone interested in working as a board member for the Friends are encouraged to attend.

VFW Post 9854 to host dance, feature Texas Pride Band
VFW Post 9854 is hosting a dance on Saturday, April 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the post home 2292 Hwy 109 S, 1/4 mile North of the Longhorn Club, in Toomey Starks.
Donations will be accepted at the door and all proceeds will go to the Veteran’s Relief Fund to support Veterans and their families.
The Texas Pride Band, featuring Lennie and Junior Benoit, will be performing a combination of Western Swing, Country, Rock and Cajun music. Cash bar is available. Take I-10 to exit four and go north.

Cinco de Mayo Pageant scheduled
The Mexican Heritage Society is sponsoring the Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Pageant, April 30, 2011. Ages zero to six months, seven months to one year old, two to three years, four to five years, six to eight years, nine to 12 years, 13 to 15 years, and 16 to 18 years. The Mexican Heritage Society Academic Scholarships for graduating high school seniors are ready to be picked up by calling Andrea Velazco 409-543-7580 or Tony Ramirez 409-504-3791. Deadline to turn in scholarship applications is April 16, 2011.
