Lamar Theater and Dance will present “Beaumont’s Babe: A Sportrait of Babe Didrikson Zaharias, April 28 through May 1 in the Studio Theater.

This original work, created by the students of Lamar, will draw upon the athlete’s life and words to celebrate the centennial of “the Babe” through song, dance, scenes and athletic activities.

Zaharias, who is considered to be one of greatest female athletes of the 20th century, was born in Port Arthur in 1911, and raised in Beaumont.

The performances, directed by Ronald Zank, will be each night at 7:30 PM, with a 1:00 PM matinee April 29, and a 2:00 matinee May, 1. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for senior citizens, students, faculty and staff, and $5 for LU students.

The Studio Theater is located at 4400 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, on the Lamar campus in Beaumont. For ticket information or reservations, call 409-880-2250.
