Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Jewel Broussard, 72, of Orange will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Salem United Methodist Church in Orange with the Rev. Dr. Carolyn McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Orange under the direction of Colonial Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Broussard died Tuesday, March 15, at her residence. She was born Nov. 17, 1938, in Forbing, Louisiana to Robert Lee and Ollie Mae Samuel Smith. Her family moved to Marshall, where she was a resident for 16 years before moving to Orange in 1961.

Bonnie was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and retired from the Orange Independent School District after 40 years of service. Bonnie graduated from H.B. Pemberton Senior High School in 1957 and Wiley College in 1961 in Marshall.

She is survived by sons, Antonio Dave (Andrea) Bourgeois III of Lafayette, Daryl Keith (Coreila) Bourgeois, SR and Damian Lamor Bourgeois, Sr. of Orange; nine grandchildren, Maya, Antonia, Antonio IV, Ollie, Daryl Jr., Chayanne, Damian Jr. Jasmine and Da’Marcus; brother, Lawrence Smith of Marshall; sisters, Naomi C. Smith of Rayville, Louisiana and Evelyn Faye Smith of Marshall; aunts, Mrs. Clarice Ealy and Mrs. Serbobie Green of Princeton, Louisiana; four nieces, one nephew; grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; great grand niece and great-grand nephews; many cousins, relatives and other acquaintances.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9am-1pm, service time Saturday
