Wyva Jean Bass, 75, of Orange passed away Thursday, March 24, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday March 26, at Old First Orange Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Mrs. Bass was born Jan. 21, 1936 in Cayuga, Texas and was the only child to Ralph and Maudy (Cornwell) Hargrove. She was an aide for O.C.A.R.C. and later for West Orange-Cove C.I.S.D. She was also an active member at Old First Orange Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and she was a member of Volunteer Christian Builders.

She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Bass; daughters, Diane Huff and husband Grover F. of Hardin and Deborah Castle of Lufkin; six grandchildren, including Jessica Beaumont, Kenneth Castle Jr., Joshua Huff and Jacob Huff; three great grandchildren, including Nathaniel Cason and Nessia Cason and cousin, Winona Hood.
