Orange police were dispatched to HEB, in the 2400 block of 16th St., in reference to a shoplifting charge Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, Officer Aaron Carter met with store employees who had the suspect laying on the ground outside of the store.

The employees told Officer Carter that the suspect had taken three packages of shrimp, valued at about $35.09, and attempted to flee the store without paying for them. The suspects gave chase and caught the suspect at the door, where he was laying when police arrived on the scene.

Employees informed police that charges will be filed and witness statements were completed regarding what had occurred.

The suspect was issued a criminal trespass warning and a field release citation.
