UPDATE:Police investigating attempted murder in Orange
An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday, in the brutal beating of Orange resident, Sylvia Vaughns. Horace Dempsey, 18, or Orange has been named a suspect in the beating of his grandmother and is currently at large.
Dempsey was last seen in the state of Florida, driving the victim’s white 1996 Ford Mustang, bearing Texas license plate number JKH 474. Anyone with information on Dempsey’s whereabouts, should contact the Orange Police Dept., at 409-883-1026.
Orange police are being assisted in the investigation by the Orange County Homicide Investigation team and the Texas Rangers. The investigation team consists of investigators from all Orange County agencies and the DA’s office.
Sylvia Vaughns remains in critical condition at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.
Tuesday, at 10:16 a.m., Orange Police were dispatched to 802 Mill Street, in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers found a 51 year old female suffering from severe and possibly life threatening injuries received from an assault.
Orange Fire Department First Responders and Acadian Ambulance Service responded to the scene and treated the injured subject. She was flown to UTMB in Galveston by air ambulance a short time later.
The case is being investigated by the Orange Police Department Detective Division, with assistance from the Orange County Homicide Investigation Team.
