Thursday, police were dispatched to the area of 15th St. and Park Ave. in reference to a subject impeding traffic by standing in the roadway. Officer Caleb Davis observed two black males in the middle of the road when he arrived on the scene.

When Officer Davis pulled up to the area, both men looked in his direction, then began walking away from one another, with one walking in the middle of Park Ave., toward a sidewalk.

The man, Marcalus Coleman, began to run from police when they turned the cruiser around. The man was seen cutting through a wooded field and then was seen running down Cherry Ave.

Davis stepped from his cruiser and ordered Coleman to stop, but he continued to run from police. He ran into an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Cherry Ave. Coleman ran north and Officer Davis cut him off in a pathway in the apartment complex.

Davis commanded Coleman to get on the ground, and he complied. Coleman was taken into custody for evading detention without further incident.
