The Orange County Commissioners’ Court will hold a special court session on Monday, April 25 at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Courtroom located in the Orange County Administration Building, at 123 S. 6th Street in Orange.

The Commissioners’ Court will hold a special public workshop on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Courtroom to discuss the redistricting of Commissioner Precincts within Orange County, Texas.

The first item on the agenda is for the Commissioners to issue two proclamations that recognize April as “Sexual Assault and Awareness Prevention Month” and that designate April 10 thru the 16 as “National Crime Victims’ Right Week.” The Commissioners will also discuss declaring May as “Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month.”

Deborah Rawls, Orange County Auditor, will ask the Court to discuss and take possible action regarding the payment of bills including $1,150 to Memorial Funeral Home from the general fund for indigents funeral expenses. The full amount to bills due for the week will be announced at the meeting on Monday.

The Court will then hear updates from the Director of Emergency Management, Jeff Kelley, on any and all projects that his office is currently working on. The Commissioners will take action if necessary. The Commissioners will also hear a report on the the current wildfire conditions and Burn Ban in Orange County. They will take action if necessary.

Doug Manning, assistant county attorney, will ask the Court to discuss and take possible action regarding the execution of a contract between Health and Human Services Commissioner and Orange County for the provision of certain prosecutorial services to the Department. This motion should also authorize the District Attorney to execute the same.

The Commissioners will then discuss and take possible action regarding the approval and acceptance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshall Service and that Sheriff Keith Merritt will sign the MOU. The purpose of this agreement is to form a task force to investigate and arrest as part of a joint law enforcement operations, person who have active state and federal warrants for their arrest.

Jennifer Blankenship, Orange County Social Services director, will ask the Court to discuss and possible action regarding the execution of an agreement between Orange County and the TALX for provision of certain employment data verification to Orange County Social Services. The agreement is necessary so the Social Services can verify employment related information for those applying for benefits.

Joel Ardoin, director of Environmental Health and Code Compliance, will ask the Commissioners to discuss and take possible action regarding the selection of a committee to choose a Registered Sanitarian/Professional Engineer for the FY-2007 Coastal Impact Assistance Program On-Site Sewer Project.

Connie Cassidy, Orange County Purchasing agent, will ask the court to discuss and take possible action regarding the transfer of a desk unit to the Road and Bridge Department.

The Court will then hear a short five minute report from Emergency Management, Orange Count Airport, Loss Control, Personnel, Purchasing, and Social Services. Each will also provide a short written report to the members of the Court. The Commissioners will take action if necessary.
