Thursday, Orange police responded to HEB in the 2400 block of 16th St., in reference to a theft. When Officer Christopher Cowart arrived on the scene, he made contact with several store employees. One of the employees said he observed a white male place a package of pork ribs in his pants and walk toward the front of the store.

The witness said that the suspect went past the registers, not making an attempt to pay for the item. The suspect admitted to taking the item without paying for it.

Officers checked the man’s record for any prior thefts and found that he had a prior Class C conviction. The man suspect was notified that due to his prior conviction, he was being placed under arrest for a Class B offence.

He was transported to Orange County Jail.
