OHS students care for ‘Reality Works’ babies
The Orangefield High School Child Development classes have been studying pregnancy, labor and delivery. Mrs. Spears, OHS Family and Consumer Science Teacher, invited Nurse Scogin to be a guest speaker over these topics, as well as safety and infant CPR. The class must also care for “Reality Works” babies.
These babies are the size of an average newborn and weigh approximately seven pounds. The infant will cry according to its 24-hour schedule and require the participant to provide care for it. The baby needs to be fed, burped, rocked and have it’s diaper changed. The baby will also cry if it is roughly handled. This program is designed to help prevent teenage pregnancy.
