Public intoxication sends local man to jail
Orange police officer Marcus Bernard was dispatched to the Quick Stop, in the 3100 block of 16th St. Wednesday evening in reference to a man who was possibly intoxicated. The store clerk told Officer Bernard that the suspect had left on foot, traveling south on 16th St.
The man was seen at Jack in the Box in the 2900 block of 16th and was identified as Billy Wayne Roberts. He was very unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. Roberts admitted to having a couple drinks, and was thought to be intoxicated.
Police placed Roberts in custody and charged him with public intoxication. He was transported to the Orange County Jail and booked.
