Orange woman thought to be missing, found after welfare check
Wednesday morning, Officer Howard Devault with the Orange Police Dept., responded to The Oaks Apartments, on a call regarding a welfare check. Upon arrival, Devault confirmed that the subject was not at her residence and had not been seen in the near area.
Captain Ellison located the woman at 6 th St. and Burton sitting in the grass, severely dehydrated and intoxicated. When officer Devault arrived at the location, he observed that the subject had also soiled her clothes and appeared to be weak and unable to walk on her own.
Acadian Ambulance was called to the scene and transported the woman to the hospital for treatment.
Police contacted Adult Protective Services but was advised the on call case worker was not responding to the scene. APS advised officers that if the woman was a danger to herself, then the officer should complete an officer commitment.
