The 14 year-old boy who is in police custody, is suspected of shooting and killing 63 year old West Orange resident Charles Henry Southard. Police have not released the motive behind the fourteen year old’s actions.



A 14 year old juvenile has been taken in custody by Orange County authorities in connection with the shooting of the Navarro County man. The name of the victim has not yet been released. Check back with therecordlive.com for more updates.


On May 25, 2011 at approximately 7 p.m. the West Orange Police were notified of a shooting in the 1300 block of Milam Street in West Orange. Upon Officers arrivals they found a male victim on the porch of the residence deceased.

The male victim is believed to be approximately 63 years of age from the Navarro County, Texas area. West Orange Police are questioning two juveniles in reference to the homicide.

The incident is being investigated by the Orange County Homicide Investigation Team, which is comprised of specially trained investigators and police officers from law enforcement officers throughout Orange County to investigate major crimes that occur.

The investigation is continuing led by the West Orange Police Department.
