A man was listed in “very serious” condition at a Beaumont hospital Saturday evening, after being shot in the chest during an altercation with a woman in Vidor. The altercation was the second of two between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

The man, who is unidentified was shot just after 5:00 PM in the 3100 block of Flora St., just off FM 1132, according to police.

The man and his girlfriend reportedly had an earlier fight at another location, outside the city limits, which Orange County Sheriff’s officers responded to. The woman reportedly was leaving after the altercation to go to her parent’s home, which is the Flora St. location.

At about 5:00 PM, the man arrived at the home on Flora and another alteration ensued between the man and woman. It was at this time a shot was fired and struck the man in the chest. A report indicates the woman’s father may have fired the weapon.

Vidor police, along with Orange County homicide investigators, are investigating. The identities of none of the people involved have been released.
