Gerald W. “Jerry” Tarter, Sr., 78, of Orange, passed away Friday, June 24, at his home. Services to remember his life will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 27, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Officiating will be Dr. Andy Pate, pastor of the First Christian Church in Orange. Interment will follow services in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.

A gathering time to reflect and share memories will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born on Dec. 2, 1934 in Lake Charles, to his parents, Oliver Tarter and Gertrude (DeRouen) Tarter, he lived in Orange since 1963, and worked as an operator and laborer for the Orange County Drainage District; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Era.

Jerry attended the First Christian Church in Orange, he enjoyed farming, ranching and spending time with his family. Jerry was a simple man who enjoyed life and the people he met.

Greeting Jerry at heaven’s gate and preceding him in death are his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Tarter; his second wife, Kathryn Tarter; his brother, Kenneth Tarter and his sister, Margie Daigle.

Those who will most cherish his memory are his son, Gerald W. Tarter, Jr. and wife, Stephany of Orange; his grandson, Bradley Tarter of South Carolina and his brother-in-law, Don Daigle of Lake Charles.

Honoring Jerry as pallbearers are Gordon Underwood, Keith Burton, Chipper Nance, Pleas Evans, Romeo Lingad and Leon Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers are David Daugherty and Roy Lee Granger.
