A Lake Charles man died Wednesday night after jumping from the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.

According to the Port Arthur Police Dept., Spencer Lyle Trahan, 33, survived the fall, but apparently drowned before rescue units from the fire dept. found him.

Only a few minutes passed from the time Trahan jumped until the rescue crew found him.

A call came in to the police department around 9:00 pm. Upon arrival to the scene, police could hear the man and finally saw him after he jumped.

Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett has ordered an autopsy.
