Three Orangefield High School students were killed early Sunday morning as they traveled down Hwy. 62, near Hoo Hoo Rd.

The accident occurred about 3:00 am, when the vehicle they were in crossed over the center lane and struck another vehicle.

Grey Smith, 17, was the driver of the vehicle, and he died at the scene. Jacob Bates, 16 was pronounced dead at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital shortly before 5:00 am. Seventeen year old Darrick Brantley, died while en route to the hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, Clint Loyd, 29 suffered a broken leg, while his three year old son received bruises.

None of the teens were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
