Monday afternoon, Officer Tim Pruitt with the Orange Police Dept., responded to a call in 200 block of Dewey in reference to theft.

When Officer Pruitt arrived on the scene, he met with William D. Buckingham, who works for Bill Mello, owner of a rent house at that location.

Buckingham told police that he had last been to the house to check on it on Sept. 22, at about 4:00 pm. While on the premises Monday, he observed two air conditioning units destroyed.

The two units, which were located on the back side of the house, had the copper cores removed from them.

Due to the age of the units, there was no replacement value available at the time.

Buckingham stated that Mello would press charges if a suspect is found.
