At approximately 3:09 pm Monday, a woman called and met with Officer Christopher Cowart, of the Orange Police Dept. in the parking lot of the Market Basket on 16th St. The woman had called police to report a burglary earlier in the day.

The woman told police she had been at the Market Basket shopping and when she unloaded her basket, she placed her purse in the back seat of her vehicle. She said she left her purse on the back seat, but didn’t notice it missing until she arrived home.

The woman said she immediately went to her bank and put a freeze on her account. While at the bank, the woman said her husband called her and said that an employee of the Dollar General Store found the missing purse behind their store.

The victim told police the only things missing from her purse were some jewelry. There were two rings, and a watch.

The rings were described as a white gold wedding ring set, with three diamonds on top, and a gold ring with a thick band and an oval diamond on top surrounded by diamonds.

The watch is described as being gold with a small slender band and a small face.

The value of the missing jewelry is over $3100.

The victim stated she would pursue charges if a suspect is located.
