Donna Thomas was selected as Orangefield Junior High’s Teacher of the Month, for the month of September. Thomas was selected by her co-workers.

One of her co-workers had this to say, “Mrs. Thomas is a true teacher in every essence of the word. She not only teaches students the subject matter, but also incorporates lessons in character and responsibility. Donna mentors teachers and is a team player. She continually goes above and beyond to make other teachers’ jobs easier from incorporating cross curricula into her lesson plans to expressing compassion and prayers for others in a time of need. Mrs. Thomas is an extraordinary teacher, co-worker, and mentor.”

Mrs. Thomas currently teaches eighth graders, Technology Applications. She has been in the teaching profession for eight years, and has been employed by Orangefield for the past five years.

Thomas enjoys all aspects of her job, but stated, “My favorite thing about teaching is learning new things. When I open myself up to learning, so do my students. I appreciate that, as a teacher, I have the power to make a difference in my students’ lives.”
Mrs. Thomas was awarded a gift certificate and a thermal mug.
