The Celebration of Life for Mr. Samuel A. “Sonny” Rhodes, 88, of Orange, will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. C.W. Crawford is the pastor. The Rev. Donald L. Rhodes, Sr., will deliver the homegoing message.

Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Hollywood Community Cemetery under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

He died Oct 10, at The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

An Orange native, he retired from the E. I. DuPont Sabine River Works Plant after 28 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Justean Rhodes of Orange; six sons, C. Sam Rhodes, Homer Rhodes, and James Rolen Rhodes, all of Orange, Elton Rhodes of Vinton, Leroy Jordan of Dickerson, TX., and Richard Rhodes of Lake Charles; two step-sons, Marvis Brown, Jr. of Orange and Paul Thomas, Jr. of Port Arthur; two daughters, Anita Battles of Orange and Deborah Slaughter of Pottstown, PA; three step-daughters, Pam Ambers, Liza Cotton, and Inia Dove, all of Orange; three brothers, Rev. Donald L. Rhodes, Sr. and Homer Rhodes, both of Orange, and Floyd Rhodes of Rowland, NC; 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, and 11 step-great grandchildren.
