Fourth grade students at Mauriceville Elementary recently enjoyed hearing and seeing things about Texas history when Joyce Atkins and Linda Garrett, from the Heritage House Museum of Orange, presented a trunk show with items the museum has collected over the years.

Beginning with the early Native American Indians of our area and continuing throughout history to the 1960’s, students were able to actually see and touch some of the historical items that fourth graders, who study Texas history in social studies, have heard and read about in class. This visit was the first the Heritage House has made with the trunk show since Hurricane Ike damaged the museum’s facility a few years ago.
