Tuesday afternoon, Officer K.J. Griffin met with a complainant at the police station in reference to fraud. The victim told police that he received a notice in the mail from his bank stating that his account was overdrawn.

After further investigation of the statement, the man found out somebody in Wisconsin had stolen his bank account number, and his wife’s driver’s license number.

The suspect then used the stolen information and printed checks with false information. The checks were used in the Milwaukee area.

The man told Officer Griffin that seven checks had been written at several Milwaukee area businesses, and totaled over $2,500.

The victim has made contact with Compass Bank, and has signed affidavits that he did not give anybody permission to use his information or debit card.
