James Daniel “Danny” Garrett Sr., 75, of Orange passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, at Orange Villa Nursing Home. He was born in Beaumont on Feb. 28, 1936. He was raised in Vidor, and had moved to the Orange area in 2006.

James was an industrial painter employed with Local #1008. Danny was a member of the Texas Steel Guitar Association for many years. He loved music and played steel guitar. Getting together with friends and other musicians in music rooms and back porches was one of his favorite pastimes. Danny loved to bass fish in his boat and when he wasn’t fishing, he was talking about fishing and could turn any conversation into a fishing story.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ada Bell (Deron) and Thurman Garrett and his daughter, Darla Jo Garrett.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Linda Marie Garrett of Orange; son, James Daniel Garrett Jr. and wife, Anna Garrett of Vidor; step son, Jody Breaux of Orange ; brother, Carl Garrett and his wife, Nell Garrett of Lumberton; six grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3:00 PM at Dorman Funeral Home, with gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service time.

Cremation held under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
