Man arrested for assaulting father with baseball bat
Thursday evening, at 9:26 pm, Officer Tim Pruitt, with the Orange Police Dept., was dispatched to the 1700 block of Bassett in reference to an assault.
When Officer Pruitt arrived on the scene, he met with a man who stated that his 19 year old son had arrived home and an argument started.
During the argument, the man told his son to pack his belongings and leave the residence. At that time, both men obtained baseball bats, and while inside the residence, the son struck his father an undetermined amount of times in the head with a small bat.
On of the strikes caused a swollen, and bleeding knot to the father’s head. The man completed a statement advising he wished to press charges against his son for assault.
At about 9:52 pm, the son was arrested for the assault and transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was released to jail staff and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and family violence.
