According to a report from Capt. R.O. Inman, with the Orange Police Dept., a Louisiana man was arrested Saturday morning for stealing copper. Police responded to a report of a man running along IH-10 carrying copper wire.

Officer Davis and Officer McDonald, arrived on the scene Saturday morning, and a foot chase began immediately. After several minutes of chasing and searching, the man, who has been identified as Mark Fontenot, of Vinton was caught.

Fontenot was taken into custody and charged with felony theft of copper, and evading officers.

Police recovered approximately 50 pounds of copper, which was identified as belonging to Entergy.
