An Orange man was beaten and robbed Sunday evening in the 1400 block of Main.

Officer Tim Pruitt responded to the call at 9:40 PM, where he met with the man in the 200 block of 11th St.

The man told Officer Pruitt that he left his residence in the 2000 block of Crabtree on foot. While walking on Main St., the man was accosted by 4-5 white males who came from a residence and approached him in the roadway.

The men reportedly jumped the victim, hitting and kicking his body. The man said the first strike was a fist to his left cheek. While trying to get off the road, the victim was kicked in the left leg, causing him to fall back to the road on his left knee.

While the men were attacking the victim, they told him to give them his money. The man told police an undetermined amount of money, and a prescription medication was taken from him during the attack.

The man was able to escape the men and make it to the residence on 11th St., and authorities were called.

The victim’s left cheek was swollen and had a small abrasion, and he also complained of pain to his neck, cheek and knee. He was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange, where he was treated.
