Charles “Chuck” Leroy Spurlock, 73, of Orange, passed away Jan. 24, at his residence.

He was born on June 9, 1938 in Nederland, to the late Thomas A. and Lillie Coates Spurlock.

Chuck was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor where he was a active member of Adult 4 Life Group as well as the Glory Band and previously served on the Kitchen Committee. He graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1956.

He served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He retired from E. I. Dupont De Numours and Company, Sabine River Works where he was a Specialist DCS. Chuck always enjoyed the annual luncheon with SRW Former Instrument Personnel.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Vidor on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; brother, T. A. Spurlock; wife, Sylvia Cecile Hebert who passed away in June 1995; and step-daughter, Linda Gottman.

He is survived by his wife whom he married Jan. 1, 1998, Linda McNeel Cockrill Spurlock; step-children, Lawrence “Larry” Adams and wife Tina of Carlyss, LA, Regina Quinn and husband Ricky of Vinton, Gerry Adams of Port Arthur, James Plimpton of Kountze, Marjorie Lambert of Mt. Vernon, IN., Kenneth Cockrill and wife Karen of Breckenridge, CO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to First Baptist Church in Vidor.
