Kimberly Alice Akers, 56, of Dover, Delaware passed away the morning of Jan. 22.

One of four children, Kim was born Aug. 3, 1955 in Orange, to proud and loving parents Jack and Ruth Fite.

As the only daughter, Kim often told stories of how her three brothers, Dwayne, David, and Dana Fite lovingly teased and protected her.

Kim is survived by her three brothers, Dwanye Fite and his significant other Merry Dee McFarlin, David Fite and his wife Ginny, and Dana Fite and his wife Gail.

Kim is also survived by her daughters, son-in-laws, and grandson; and her husband's family, whom she always considered as her own.

Diagnosed with terminal lung disease in 2008, she lived each day as an example of strength and courage to all who knew her. As she passed into the arms of her Lord to be with her husband and parents, her family is at peace after her brave fight.

The family asks all who wish to celebrate Kim's life to join them in her Memorial Service on Jan. 29 starting at 5:00 p.m., with a service at 6:00 p.m. at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt 10), Dover, DE.

Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
