The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Wilma Jean Jenkins, 88, of Manvel, TX will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. C.W. Crawford, pastor, will officiate. Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

She died Jan. 31, 2012 at her residence.

A native of Newton County and former Orange resident, she was the wife of the late Roy L. Jenkins, former Orange City Councilman. She resided in Manvel, for four years.

A Licensed Vocational Nurse, she retired from the former Orange Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. While in Orange she was a member of the Mission Society at the church, numerous other church related groups, a member of the LVN Association, and also a member of the La Petite Art and Civic Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Jenkins of Manvel; four sisters, Jewel Brown and Gladys Wells both of East Windsor, NJ and Ina Washington and Otha Washington, both of Whitestone, NY; four grandchildren, April Sibley (Roderick), Erica Bennett (Wayne), Kevin Jenkins, and Roy L. Jenkins, III; five great grandchildren, Angela Brooke Carter, Alaysia Sibley, Roy L. Jenkins, IV, Nigel Bennett, and Nyah Bennett; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Jenkins.
