The City of West Orange and Waste Management have entered into a new agreement for solid Waste Collection beginning March 1, 2012. Waste Management will now provide a 96-gallon trash cart for collection one time per week.

Residents will now be able to place the cart and two bulk items out one time per week for collection. Residents must utilize these carts to be in compliance with City Ordinance.

Delivery of the carts began this week. Each resident will receive one garbage cart for use during this contract period. Residents are asked to wait until Friday March 2, 2012to begin using these carts.

The use of these carts will be complimentary during the contract period and will be picked up at the end of the period by Waste Management. Carts that are not returned will result in a charge of $80 to resident/subscriber. It is the resident/subscriber’s responsibility to safeguard the container by keeping it in a safe location during non-pickup days and inclement weather events. (In the event of impending storm, hurricane, etc. please store cart in a secure building or structure for safekeeping.)

Beginning Friday March 2, 2012 collection will be one time per week. Residents located south of Western Avenue and east of Foreman Road will be serviced on Fridays starting March 2, 2012.

Residents located north of Western Avenue and west of Foreman Road will be serviced on Tuesdays starting on March 6, 2012.

If needed, residential customers may obtain a second cart for an additional fee by calling the City of West Orange office at 409-883-3468.

Note: There will be no change in the current residential charge of $20 per month.
