Logan Michael Phillips, 13, of Deweyville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 14, in Deweyville.

Logan was born on March 17, 1998 in Port Arthur, to his parents, Joseph Michael Martinez and April Starr (Phillips) Martinez. He was a lifelong resident of Deweyville and he was in the seventh grade at Deweyville High School where he excelled at football, basketball and track.

Logan was an exceptional student with good grades, he cared for others, he was very close to his little brother, Gage, he enjoyed art and he will be remembered for his sense of humor which kept those around him laughing.

Logan is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Debbie Credeur; his grandfather, Mickey Spears; his great grandfather, Haskell Phillips and his great grandfather, E. R. Martinez, Sr.

Those who will most cherish his memory are his parents, Joseph and April Martinez of Deweyville; his little brother, Gage Martinez of Deweyville; paternal grandparents, Dan & Bobbie Wimberley of Deweyville; maternal grandparents, Buddy and Leigh Phillips of Bridge City; maternal great grandmother, Jewell Phillips of Orange; aunts, Misty Phillips of Deweyville and Katrina Phillips of Bridge City; uncles, Adam Phillips of Bridge City and Daniel Richardson of Bridge City. Logan is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

Services to remember his life will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 16, at the First Baptist Church in Deweyville.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow services in the Deweyville Cemetery in Deweyville. Services are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Honoring Logan as pallbearers are Caden Hubbard, Talon Knox, Levi Perkins, Bobby Fox, Dakota Dickman, Thomas Henson, Blaze Rainwater, Nate Dickerson, Hunter Maloy, Adam Phillips and Coaches Hayquist and Bowles.
