Bill Gates, 68, of Vidor, died Tuesday, April 3, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Wells, TX., he has lived in Vidor for 40 years, and was a retired Beaumont Police Officerlink, and from the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office. Bill was a member of the Police Benefit Association and an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 6, at First Baptist Church of Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at Memorial Funeral Home.

William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie Gates; sisters, Georgia McKnight and Marlene Redd.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Gates; son, William Neal Gates, both of Vidor; daughters, Margie Gates of Conroe, Kerri Clark and her husband, Preston, Brandi Marie Gates Buchanan and her husband, Holt all of Vidor; brother, Billy Neal Gates and his wife, Lenora of Angleton; sister, June McGuire of Diboll; five grandchildren, Lee Wise and wife, Mandy of Houston, Meagan Coleman, Peyton Cornelison, Colby Clark, and Holt Kyle Buchanan, all of Vidor.
