Funeral services for Hazel Verdine, 83, of Starks, will be held at 12:00 pm, April 7, in Starks, at the First Baptist Church of Starks. The Rev. John Talbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Doyle cemetary under the direction of Claire Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Verdine died Wednesday, April 4, in Lake Charles. A native of Deweyville, she was a longtime resident of Starks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray (Doc) Verdine, and daughter, Sue Verdine Stanley.

Survivors include sons, Marlan Ray Verdine and wife Jan of Orangefield, Charlie Allen Verdine and wife Donna of Deweyville, and Kenneth Bradley Verdine of Starks; brother, Floyd Talbert of Rayburn Country, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
