Much ado about Bear Stage Players

The LCM Bear Stage Players have completed their UIL One Act Play Season with success. The group, under the direction of Cory Broom and Caroline Hennigan, tackled a very difficult competition show this year, William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”

The team first embarked on Zone Contest, Tuesday April 3 at Lamar – Port Arthur. Individuals receiving awards were as follows: Honorable Mention All-Star Cast – Andrew Borel and Emily Dodd, All-Star Cast – Paul Daleo, Bailey Gilbeaux, and Triston Stringer, Best Actor for the contest was LCM’s Aaron Alford, and the Technical Award went to Kelsey Strother.

The play, with a strong showing, advanced to District Contest on Thursday April 5, again at Lamar – Port Arthur. Individuals receiving awards at that contest were as follows: Honorable Mention All-Star Cast – Bailey Gilbeaux and Triston Stringer, All-Star Cast – Aaron Alford and Kristin Yokum, Technical Award – Drew Frederick. The group was named as the UIL District 20-4A Alternate Play to Area for 2012.

LCM will present the award winning One Act Play as a dinner theater at LCM High School on Friday, April 27. A $15 ticket will cover the meal and the show. Dinner, prepared by LCM Culinary Arts Class, will consist of salad, chicken spaghetti, bread sticks, and dessert and will be served at 6:00 p.m. The play will follow at 7:00 p.m.

You may also catch the show on Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. for $5, at the LCM High School auditorium.
