Wednesday afternoon, Orange police responded to the 500 block of Lilac in reference to a call of a woman walking through the backyards of several residences. The woman was also trying door handles.

Upon arrival at the scene, Officer Michael Roush observed the female walking in the street and Lilac and Zinnia. Roush made contact with the woman who identified herself as Valerie Lynn Berwick, 41, of Orange.

While officers were speaking with Berwick, she was observed to have red, glassy eyes and was unsteady on her feet. She had a prescription bottle containing Hydrocoiacet, and was thought to be intoxicated on that medication.

Berwick was placed into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail on public intoxication charges.
