Top Graduates at Orangefield High School named

Seniors at Orangefield High School will graduate at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30, at F. L. McClain Stadium.

Tyler Christopher Angelle, the son of Thad and Candace Angelle, has been named the valedictorian of the graduating Class of 2009 at Orangefield High School.

Angelle has held the highest class ranking in his entire high school career. He was on the All A Honor Roll, and had perfect attendance his freshman through junior years.

The valedictorian’s long list of honors include: Kiwanis Citizenship Day Award, Rotary Club Award, American Chemical Society Chemistry Award, Woodmen of the World American History Award and he was a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar Representative.

A member of the Student Council for three years and the National Honor Society for two, Tyler was also a member of the Drama Club, participated in UIL Calculator Applications and Current Events his freshman and sophomore years.

Golf  and basketball team member for four years, Angelle served as team captain his senior year and was named to the 1st Team All-District and the All-Orange Leader Team.

Angelle is a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and is currently Youth Ministry Co-president.

The salutatorian for Orangefield High School is Joshua D. Juneau, son of Louis and Linda Juneau.

He has taken the honors curriculum throughout his high school years and has earned many academic honors.

Juneau has been named to the 3-A Academic All-State Football Team, 2nd Team All-District Inside Linebacker, All-District Scholastic Athlete, and has been a UIL Regional Qualifier Current Issues and Events competitor for three years, placing first in the regional meet his senior year.

Juneau has also received the Rotary Club Scholastic Excellence Award and the Bravo O.I.S.D. Award, making a perfect score on the Social Studies TAKS.

A four year member of the football team, he was elected captain his junior and senior years. He has also played baseball and been a member of the powerlifting team.

Other activities have included Boys State as a senator/county delegate, the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference, National Honor Society, and the Catholic Youth Organization.

Both of the top graduates are Mirabeau Scholars and will be attending Lamar University on four year, $60,000 scholarships.
