A man was arrested Tuesday evening in a vacant lot in the 800 block of 16th St., between Cherry and Block Streets. When officer J.C. Arnold arrived at the location, he saw a black male lying on his side on ground. When the officer approached the man to speak with him, he quickly got up and stood in a karate stance.

The subject was very unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred. There was an opened beer bottle in a brown paper bag with some of the beer missing, and the man stated he had drank approximately three to four, 40 ounce bottles of beer during the day. The bottle in the bag was cold to the touch, and the remaining contents were poured out.

While continuing to speak, the subject admitted he had fallen down because he was drunk. Officer Arnold felt that the subject was a danger to himself and others, so he placed him under arrest and transported him to the Orange County Jail.
