Robert "Strick" Strickland passed away on Friday June 22, at MD Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont, on Tuesday, June 26 at 3 p.m.

A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Music will be provided by his beloved Orange Community Band friends.

Burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery on Hwy 90 following the service.

“Strick“, son of John and Kathleen Strickland, was born in Tarpan Springs, Fla., on Aug. 11, 1912. He received a Bachelor of Science, Chemistry from North Georgia College and a commission as 2nd Lt. in the Army Reserves.

“Strick” then served his country as 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. Strick retired from EI Dupont Orange where he worked from 1955 to 1995 as their plastics specialist and international consultant. He belonged to the Society of Plastic Engineers and served as a past section president. Strick also served in the community as President of the Orange Community Band, a member of the Orange Lions Club, Beaumont Citizens Police Academy and Citizens on Patrol.

“Strick” is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and children Alan and Dale Strickland, Evelyn Smith and Debbie Manshack, Stanley, Ted and Greg Shipper, and Cindy Shipper McMurrey. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many friends.

Those who wish, may make contributions to the Orange Community Band in care of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
