Bobby Joe Walker, 85, formerly of Bridge City passed away Friday, July 13, at his home in Lumberton after a brief illness, surrounded in love by his wife and three children.

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. at the Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City Tuesday, July 17. Officiating will be the Rev. Brad Morgan of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Walker was born March 26, 1927 in Emblem, TX., to William Herman and Mildred (Craig) Walker. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local 195, was an instructor and loved teaching the apprentices. He also served on the Pension Trust Board for the Pipefitters Local 195. There were many magnificent gardens that he enjoyed producing over the years. He also enjoyed walking and yard work but he was happiest when completing his crossword puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Walker of Lumberton; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Walker of CO; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Kenneth Hymel of Bellville, Bobbie and A.J. Lemoine of Port Arthur and Becky Jones of Beaumont. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two step granddaughters; eight great grandchildren; sister, Kate Russell and brother, Richard Walker both of Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1155 W Roundbunch, Bridge City, TX 77611.
