On Monday, Dec. 12, about 4:20 P.M., Officer James Roy of the Orange Police Dept., was dispatched to the 1100 block of North 10thSt. to assist Detective Jefferson with an intoxicated male.

When Officer Roy arrived on the scene, he met with a man who identified himself as 61 year old Joseph Manuel of Orange.

Officer Roy observed Manuel to be standing on the sidewalk using a fence for support. He was also observed to have bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was unsteady on his feet.

When officers approached Manuel, there was a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person. When asked if he had been drinking, Manuel said he had been.

Due to police feeling Manuel was a danger to himself or others, and the fear of Manuel being struck by a vehicle, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Orange County Jail.

Manuel was booked on public intoxication charges.
