OPD responds to theft at Texas Country Store on IH-10

The Orange Police Department responded to a reported robbery at 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Texas Country Store, located at 7411 IH-10 in Orange, Texas. Upon arrival officers discovered that it was not a robbery, but a theft.

A white female entered the store and distracted the clerk by telling her the toilet was overflowing in the restroom. The clerk went into the restroom with a mop, and another white female went behind the counter and stole money from the cash register, lotto tickets, and cigarettes. The clerk spotted the subject behind the counter and the subject ran out of the store and left in a vehicle.

Both females were located and interviewed by Orange Police Detectives. The one that committed the theft was arrested on unrelated warrants. The investigation is continuing and warrants will be obtained at a later date for both females for the offense of theft. At this time the property has not been recovered.
